Cultural anthropology

Cultural anthropology is a fascinating study of culture as an organising principle. Why do people do the things they do, in the way they do? Why not differently? And what happens to the dynamic when people from different cultural backgrounds work together? In 1996, I graduated from Utrecht University with a thesis on Theatre for Development in Uganda. I now specialise in cultural dynamics in teams and organisations, also referred to as corporate anthropology.

Psychodrama

An interactive method that activates people, making the communication between people visible, palpable and understandable. Psychodrama promotes the ability to deal more creatively with situations, with others and with yourself, both in the personal and professional spheres. Founder: Jacob Moreno.

Voice Dialogue

Polarities in personal coaching. The Voice Dialogue Method teaches you how to literally give voice to different aspects of yourself. This approach assumes that, for each of the aspects of ourselves we identify with, there are other parts that became disowned. For example, someone who fully identifies with a ‘rational self' could lose sight of his or her ‘emotional self’. Recognising and discovering the polarities in yourself enables you to take better decisions and obtain greater insight into your interaction with others. A particularly profitable approach for people working in a culturally diverse environment.

Deep democracy

Deep democracy was developed in the 1990s in the business sector in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has since been successfully used as a powerful decision-making and conflict-resolution instrument within diverse groups. This method looks at the ever-present group dynamics from a different perspective. A way of utilising the resources of diversity by incorporating the wisdom of the minority into decisions by the majority. Founder: Myrna Lewis.

Viral Change

Viral Change™ is the alternative to the slow, painful and unsuccessful way of managing change processes within organisations. The traditional change model is linear: big changes are communicated top-down through the hierarchical structure by means of a large number of interventions and workshops. In Viral Change™, a ‘tipping point for new behaviour’ is created by ‘injecting’ a small number of ‘well-connected’ people with a small number of new behaviours, which they then spread by ‘infecting’ their networks with these. In this way, the Viral Change™ method causes an internal ‘epidemic’ of the success you are seeking. Exciting, innovative – and effective. Founder: Leandro Herrero.
